Brainpickings Legendary Designer Charles Eames

June 20, 2015

In addition to all of the “good goods” that they produced, the Eameses were prolific as educators, making many important contributions to the world of ideas.

Underlying all of their work is the principle that design should not be an act of creative self-expression but rather a process of problem solving.

Great article on brainpickings about Charles and Ray Eames. Now i want to read “an eames anthology” even more.

The Elements of Typographic Style Applied to the Web

ElementsOfTypographicStyles_WebTypography

The Elements of Typographic Style by Robert Bringhurst is one of those books that sits on my “to-read” list for far too long. Many people have praised this book as the “bible of typography” and i heard the phrase “if there’s one book about typography you read, make it this” more than few times.

Richard Rutter took the time to take it to the next level and apply the Elements of Typographic Style to the Web. I only skimmed through some of the chapters and have already learned a thing or two. Definitely something to bookmark.

It’s fascinating to see how something as awesome as Space Box was built in just five days and learn a little bit about the mindset of the developer behind it, Drew Wilson. I honestly didn’t expected that much of inspiration from this book and i can definitely recommend to read it.

I’ll share some thoughts i had while and after reading this book.
